About My Plumbing Prices
A running cistern or a dripping mixer can be awkward to price without knowing which part has failed. My Plumbing Prices helps UK homeowners and landlords put those details into one enquiry and hear from local businesses that handle domestic plumbing repairs.
My Plumbing Prices introduces homeowners to independent plumbing businesses. Submit one free online enquiry and you may receive up to four quotations from plumbers who cover your postcode and take on that work. Responses depend on availability and local coverage; four quotations are not guaranteed. You can decline every quotation.
Our role in your repair
We are a consumer matching service. We do not employ the plumbers, carry out repairs or set a business’s charges. Each business assesses the fault and gives its own quotation. Appointments, payment, workmanship guarantees and any contract for the work are agreed directly between you and your chosen plumber.
The homeowner enquiry is free and carries no obligation to book. Plumbing businesses pay for access to customer enquiries through the lead service. An enquiry is an opportunity for them to quote, so a business may ask more questions before deciding whether it can help.
The work people ask us about
- Emergency Plumber – Urgent call-outs for burst pipes, uncontrollable leaks, overflowing cisterns, failed stopcocks and loss of water, with the leak made safe first and a permanent repair priced separately.
- Leaking Pipe Repairs – Tracing and repairing weeping joints, pinhole leaks, split pipes and failed compression fittings on copper, plastic and lead supply pipes, including leaks under floors and behind boxing.
- Tap Repair and Replacement – Dripping taps, stiff or loose handles, worn ceramic cartridges and washers, plus new kitchen, basin and bath taps fitted with isolation valves and fresh flexible connectors.
- Toilet Repairs and Installation – Running cisterns, weak or failed flushes, leaks at the pan connector or base, wobbly pans and like-for-like toilet replacement, including close-coupled and back-to-wall suites.
- Shower Plumbing and Repairs – Low pressure, temperature swings, leaking mixer valves, failed shower pumps and tray waste leaks diagnosed and repaired, with replacement mixer valves and pumps fitted where repair is not worthwhile.
- Blocked Sink and Waste Pipe Clearing – Slow and blocked kitchen sinks, basins, baths and shower wastes cleared at the trap or along the waste run, with poor falls, failed traps and leaking waste joints put right.
Within those headings, a repair might involve a siphon diaphragm, a bottom-entry fill valve, a ceramic tap cartridge, a leaking pan connector or a blocked bottle trap. Knowing the exact part is useful, but you do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. Describe what you can see and let the plumber investigate.
Why the details change the price
Access can matter as much as the replacement fitting. Reaching a bath tap through a removable panel is different from removing tiles to get at it. A concealed cistern needs a service opening; a corroded tap fixing may take longer to remove than the new tap takes to fit.
Our service pages explain these practical differences. Guide prices help with budgeting, but they are not measured local averages or offers to do the job. Ask for a written scope that separates diagnosis, repair and making good, particularly for hidden leaks.
Insurance, references and relevant skills
Companies joining the network are asked to provide relevant insurance details and references. Before booking, ask the business for current evidence that its insurance covers your job, and check references for similar repairs. An introduction does not guarantee the work. WaterSafe Register lists approved contractors with training in the water fittings rules; it is a useful additional check rather than a licence every domestic plumber must hold.
Ask who will do any work outside ordinary plumbing. Gas work requires the appropriate Gas Safe registration, while shower electrical work needs suitable electrical competence. You can check an engineer’s Gas Safe registration and work categories before booking work on a gas appliance. Altering an unvented hot water system also calls for relevant competence and compliance with the rules for the work and UK nation concerned.
Enquiries for occupied and rented homes
Tell the plumber about restricted access, a shared water supply or a tenant appointment. Tenants should normally report defects to their landlord or agent before commissioning work. Landlords can explain who authorises spending and who will let the plumber in, without putting sensitive entry codes into the initial job description.
Urgent faults need direct arrangements
If water is escaping, close the internal stopcock only if you can reach it safely. Keep away from wet sockets, light fittings and electrical equipment. Isolate electricity only from a dry, safe position; do not touch wet switches or enter standing water to reach the consumer unit. Arrange urgent help directly if the leak cannot be controlled. This website does not monitor emergencies or dispatch plumbers, and an enquiry does not reserve an arrival time.
Start with the symptoms
Use the free quote enquiry to explain which fitting is affected, when the fault occurs and whether the water can be isolated. You can then discuss the likely repair with plumbers who respond and choose whether to take a quotation further.
