Bexley is an area in south east London, in the London Borough of Bexley. Bexley is between Dartford and Sidcup and south of Bexleyheath. Bexley has its own train station and is about 15 minutes away from the Dartford Crossing.

Bexley was originally a parish in Kent, and in 1894 it became part of Bexley Urban District. The area then also became a borough in 1935. The borough of Bexley expanded and came under the control of Greater London Council in 1965.

Bexley has many of historical landmarks. One is St Mary’s Church, which is known for its unusual octagonal spire. Another is Hall Place, which is a former stately home. This is located by the River Cray, to the north of Bexley. It is owned by the London Borough of Bexley and the house and gardens are open to the public.

One of Bexley’s most popular landmarks is Danson House and its surrounding park land. This was built in the 19th century by the famous architects John Shaw and John Shaw Junior. Another is Red House, which is a property that was commissioned, created and lived in by the designer William Morris. Red House is now owned by the National Trust and is open to the public.
