Abbots Langley is a big village in Hertfordshire in England with a population of 10,472. It is neighbours with Watford and many people work there, and it was formerly part of the Watford Rural District. It is now in the Three Rivers District.
The first record of the village is in 1045 and it is listed in the Domesday book, which recorded that 19 families lived there at the time. The village rests on clay, so the water supply is plentiful.
Abbots Langley is likely to be most famous for being the home of Pope Adrian IV, the only Englishman to ever become Pope. He was born Nicholas Breakspear in around 1100.
